13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Eph 6:13-14 KJV)
We need shield of righteousness to withstand the evil day. Do not let your heart be troubled, but embrace that day with confidence. Look at that terrible day not with trouble. The Lord gives you righteousness, the first things that allows you to withstand that day.
Righteousness is a quality and a state of being righteous and just, doing the right things with correct motive.
How do we get that righteousness? The answer is not to try harder.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (Rom 10:2-3 KJV)
The best things you can do is to submit yourself to the righteousness of God. All you need to do is to believe in the lord Jesus and receive His righteousness in your life. About Abraham it says,
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. (Rom 4:21-22 KJV)
By faith in His righteousness He justifies us and makes us righteous.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. (Gal 5:5 KJV)
Pharisees were righteous in their own eyes. Our righteousness has to exceed the righteousness of the Pharisees.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Mat 7:21-23 KJV)
They were doing their own thing.
Ezekiel 33. If the righteous sins, his righteousness won’t be remembered.
The righteousness of God will deliver you in the evil day.
The passage in Ezekiel 14:12-20 started me on that topic. The good news in in verses 22-23,
22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD. (Eze 14:22-1 KJV)
The idea is to bring forth the remnant, and we will see it was not in vain what God was doing.
We need to have righteousness to be a part of that remnant.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. (Heb 11:7 KJV)
