Developing your Spirit, Soul and Body

1 I have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Kevin Campbell

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Who is in Control? Overcoming You

Who is in Control?

How much control of your life does God really have? On the scale from 1% to 100% – is it 75%? 50%? Or does it come up and down when problems come? It will be very evident in your fruit and conduct. Are you making people’s lives around you better, or they wish you would not around? It depends on who is in control of your life.

Everybody wants the gifts, see healing and miracles, including me. I need them. The Lord says, “If I am in control of your life, when certain circumstance come, why do you push Me over and take charge?” Healing ministry has to be with obedience. He is looking for someone who will say, “yes” to what God tells to do.

Many of us have a problem: independence of God. We want to do things our way. God tells to do something, and you compromise… Independence and compromise are areas when our flesh wait to take over.

We need the healing power of God back. But we also need a stable lifestyle. Too many options. There has to be the only way.

Overcoming You

The greatest obstacle in the past is you. Ask yourself a question, “Who really is in control of my life?” The answer determines who determines my behaviour, flesh or the Spirit. Who is in control is obvious when a storm comes. If you are in control of your life, you are out of control. “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Phi 3:3 KJV)

What is your value? It is how much God is willing to pay for you.

If you have an ounce of independence in you. Or your opinion, it is like a virus. Let God overcome you. Without God you will never be able to do things right all the time.

“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Gal 5:16 KJV)

When Holy Spirit is in control of your life, you’ll please God.

You will never understand faith until you understand love.

Build your integrity. Make a decision: the world will see brand new me.

You’ll miss every target you don’t shoot at. So take a shot.

Daniel has excellent spirit (Daniel 5:14, 63). “He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit” (Pro 17:27 KJV). Excellent spirit keeps his cool.

You overcome by recognition. You recognize you’ve been ain a similar situation, failed, and you ask God to help you this time. Follow peace with all men.

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live” (Rom 8:13 KJV). Gentleness is a weapon of warfare. Our weapons of warfare are not carnal.

The Serpent, the Woman and the Flood

New – Video of the presentation added

“And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (Revelation 12:15-17)

Who is that woman? What is the flood? In the book of Revelation a lot applies to our generation. When a person reads it and gets confused…Confusion comes when someone was rooted in traditions of men and then he come across the verses that contradict their traditions. Confusion also comes when there is a lack of integrity, which leads to lack of the Lord be able to reveal His Word to you. Revelation from the truth of God’s Word begins with an honest heart. If we lack honesty God will actually withhold the truth from us, He will even send a strong delusion, as in Thessalonians, that you might believe a lie.

Men can deceive you, but it is another thing when God deceives you. Those who do not have desire for truth will be swept away with this strong delusion.

Scriptures Promising Salvation for Believer’s Children

When we pray we have to rely on promises written in God’s Word. Here are some of the promises about salvation of the children of believing parents.

Isaiah 49:24-25 24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?  25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Isaiah 59:21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

Isaiah 44:3-5 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses. One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

Proverbs 11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered [saved].

Understanding How To Resist The Devil

Bible talks about the devil, but does not glorify him. An average person does not know how to handle this character. The difference between victorious person and defeated is who is in charge. If the Lord is, you are victorious, if the devil is in charge of your life, it brings defeat.

Did you make a point when you get up on the morning to give thanks to the Lord, to thank him, that I am more than a conqueror? Then you will see the results of it.

People like to study the devil. What is the Lord doing for you? What are the angels doing for you? Do you know how to resist the devil? It is not to ignore him, but to speak to him. “Submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he shall flee from you” (James 4:7). This is a promise. The problem is – are you truly submitted to God? When you are submitted to God, you have authority over the devil, he does not have authority over you.

Many people take resisting as temptation, but it is only one thing. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. Do not give place to the devil. You resist him, “I am not yielding to you”, that is how the sword of the Spirit works. That how Jesus resisted. He could have sinned, but He did not. Satan will misuse the Word of God trying to defeat you. That is why we need to know the Word, to know what it actually says.

How to Get Someone Saved That Satan Has Bound

Pastor Thurman Scrivner

How many of you have loved ones that are lost and want nothing to do with God?

I know many of you are that way because I have talked to many who have asked me, “Why can’t i lead my loved one to Christ?  Can they not see the wonderful things Jesus has done for us on the cross?  Do they not want to go to heaven when they die? Why would anyone want to live in the devil’s way here on earth and then go to hell when they die?”

These are all very good questions, and it took me many years and hundreds of hours of study in the Word of God to find the answers.  I finally found them, and since then, I have used what I found to get many people saved.

If you will pay very close attention you will learn how to get your lost ones saved. Please take note . . .

First you must be a born again, baptized believer. Then you must know your position in Christ. You must know you are seated in the heavens in Christ.

Eph 2:4-7, Tlb

4  But God is so rich in mercy; he loved us so much
5  that even though we were spiritually dead and doomed by our sins, he gave us back our lives again when he raised Christ from the dead–only by his undeserved favor have we ever been saved–6  and lifted us up from the grave into glory along with Christ, where we sit with him in the heavenly realms–all because of what Christ Jesus did.
7  And now God can always point to us as examples of how very, very rich his kindness is, as shown in all he has done for us through Jesus Christ.

You must know you are a joint heir with Christ. (ROM 8:15-18 TLB)

Fasting and Prayer

Tom DeckardTom Deckard teaches on how to have God’s power and anointing in our life, speaking from his over 30 years experience. If you want to know how to get closer to the Lord and get God’s power in your life, this teaching will help you.

– – –

“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:16-18)

Wrong teaching and wrong believing can be a detriment to anyone.

Fasting is to get you out of the way and let the Lord lead. When I am fasting, my discernment is way up and I know a lot about you – it pushes more into the supernatural than the natural world.  He just reads “spirit” the reality of your life, where you are really living.  I’m seeing you just as you are and that is what I can tell you.   After the Holy Spirit comes upon a person he becomes another man.

Fasting must become a way of life. You have to bring yourself under a control. Fasting is humbling yourself before God, because we want to get closer to Him.  Continue reading Fasting and Prayer

Abounding With Thanksgiving

“Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:7)

Thanksgiving that comes from the heart is different from that comes out of your lips.

1 Timothy 2:1-2  “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.” Stop here and analyse this: “For all men?” He could not mean that, could He? Then He goes on “2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

There is no way you may rail on a leader and pray for him. If you have problems praying for somebody give thanks for him first. Because you can get him change. You don’t thank God for him because he is your enemy, but because he is your fellow human.

Your Soul Under Control

Your soul has to be under your control, not you under control of your soul.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance (Psalm 42). David is talking to himself. God has interest in seeing your spirit, soul and body prosper. It is part of His plan, will and purpose for your life. Your spirit is the part of you that gets born again. It enters into relationships with God, make connection with Heaven, which Holy Spirit directs. You are responsible to keep your body in subjection. We need to make a decision to keep our soul in line with the Word. Soul consists of mind, will and emotions. Soul does not get born again, it is being renewed gradually. You have to talk to your soul. Soul does 3 things: mind processes your thoughts; thoughts affect your feelings and how you make decisions. The key to get your mind, will and emotions lined up with the Word of God and Spirit of God. This way you will correctly respond to the way God feels and will help you on your decision making. God wants you to be in control of your emotions rather than emotions controlling you. Soul is affected by the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness.

Апостол Рубен Эш. Apostle Reuben Esh

New man                 Mind         Flesh (soul man)

Emotions         Will

If you depend on your natural senses to feed the information to your soul it makes you a carnal man. If you depend on your spiritual senses to tap in the Kingdom of Heaven, in makes you a spiritual man. If unconverted man taps into spiritual realm of the kingdom or darkness it is witchcraft. You have to train your new man that taps into the Kingdom of God to use spiritual senses to feed your mind.

“…He began to say unto His disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy” (Luke 12:1). It is a put on. It is not right. It looks religious, but it is not what God is looking for. You can be ever so close to what God wants you to be, and still not be what God wants you to be; when we try to put on something that we are not – this is hypocrisy. Sometimes when you are fighting a disease and believe for healing, and talk to a person who is critical about it and you don’t tell him about what is going on – I am not talking about this case. I am talking about normal run of character. Jesus said to us to be aware of the hypocrisy, which is leaven of the Pharisee, it will leaven you if you don’t watch.

If you are in the flesh you have to get to work emotions up. Because all week long you are dragging by them. If it is all emotions you will be down next day.

If you are not excommunicated from the group that you used to belong to, then what are you be a part of? Who are you trying to please and bring glory to? “These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.” (John 9:22)

Here is almighty God made a great miracle for their son, but they are afraid. The Lord put some pressure on them. When I had a baptism of the Holy Ghost, I lost fellowship with most of my family. We need to go outside the temple following Jesus.

Hebrews 13:12-13: 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

We don’t want to lose fellowship. Fear keeps people inside. To go outside the camp means to go outside the walls of the church. 1 Peter 4:12-14: 12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial [excommunication – K.C.] which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:  13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

You know why some of you don’t have joy? You still try to get inside those walls.

The Law of Giving

1 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.  12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.  13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:  14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance  also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:  15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack. (2 Corinthians 8:11).Giving is what the Lord wants us to be involved in. He said, “I want to start giving your way out of problems.” Giving has law behind it. Everything God does has a law behind it. The law is dead without the spirit until the spirit activates it. The only way you can fulfill the law of giving is with the Holy Spirit. He will give you life to do it.Pastor Kevin Campbell

There are different seeds – you give condemnation, in comes back to you, you give judgment, it comes back to you, you give forgiveness, it comes back to you. There are multitudes of people in nursing home today do not receive mercy because they never gave mercy. Good side of it – you start giving mercy today in order to reap it later.

Giving is a part of God’s kingdom. God is a giver. He wants you to succeed.

What if you give and they are dishonest? Mathew 7: 6 “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”

It’s useless to try to save somebody’s soul if your own soul is a problem.

Only One Will Win

Many people are finding out, that the god they serve is not alive at all, he is not real. Many people become angered, because the thing they thought real is not real. We serve a living God.

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Everybody starts to run, but only one will win this race. You are going to win. Anything in your life that is not real will hinder you from winning. Hypocrisy is not going to win, anything that is fictitious, not real. If you try to be happy and have love, and you are not really happy or don’t really love, you won’t win. What love and joy you have, you invest it, and it comes back more.

Preparing for the Future. 4

Приготовление к будущему. 4

We need to prepare yourself and your children to eat less, because it may not be enough food very soon. Waste cannot be allowed. Learn how to control your appetite, how to multiply food. Get rid of gossiping and slandering tongue. Some people wonder why somebody always comes against them. It is because you constantly come against others.

Persecution comes; it is automatic with receiving the truth. We must be able to face all persecution in order to be able to overcome. “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:20)

Truth will be the most resisted thing in the future.

Start preparing for not being offended. You have to make a decision not to be offended.

Preparing for the Future. 2.

People who are focused on eschatology1 prepare only to what they believe and what they been taught about the end of the world. If they are not corrected now they won’t have the faith to overcome in the future. They talk about rapture of the church, 10 toes in the book of Daniel, pre-tribulation, on and on. They study only end time events and prophetic. This causes them to be unstable.

I believe many people will walk away from the Lord and perish in the days to come because of wrong teaching in this area. They can tell you all about the end of the world,  but they are not ready to face it. I meet in prison a lot of people like that. They can tell you a lot about Revelation and Daniel, but they can’t tell you anything about good understanding and management, how to make it in the world we live in today. They have prophetic things figured out. I don’t ask for prophetic information, it just comes. The Lord told me one time, “Don’t just spend all your time in Revelation and Daniel, there is the whole Bible you need to know.” Eschatology is important, but you can’t get it out of balance.

Preparing for the Future. 1.

God does not have to have a lot of people to accomplish His purpose, as in case with Gideon. Faith is based on wisdom. You cannot base faith on stupidity. Nature itself teaches us to be ready at all times. The earth is shaking, things are getting worse. People see it happening, but they say, “It is not happening.”

God did not remove Noah out of the hard times, He showed Him how to live through it. God delivered three Hebrew boys in the fire. Continue reading Preparing for the Future. 1.

When the Going Gets Tough

When there is a drought in your spiritual life many people want to back off. “I just don’t feel like I did before. Maybe I committed unpardonable sin? Maybe I missed it somewhere? What is wrong?” And you want to jump to conclusions, which lead to wrong decision. Don’t make decisions when you are weak. When it’s tough it’s not the time to sleep or take vacation. Stand and withstand. Don’t let the enemy to plunder your field.

Create In Me a Clean Heart

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.  11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.  12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” (Psalm 51)

The word “create” also means “to cut down”. It means something needs to come down. We want a clean heart without ax, just keep things the way they are. This is not your, but God’s habitation.

It is important for us to examine our hearts sometimes. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).

Does honesty, reliability, courage, love have to do with clean heart?

Pastor Kevin Campbell

Our hearts have to be prepared. How?

#1. Guarding the flame in your life. How is your fire burning? You need to add things to it to keep is up. If you stop adding the fire will go out. He told them to take olives, beat them in order to get oil out of them. If you are going to get anything out of the Word of God, you need to get into it, to pound it, to get involved. Don’t just get olives, don’t just read the Word, get the oil out of it. Add to your life things that will burn. All of us can quote certain Scriptures. You need to get oil out of it. You have to have your lamp full if you want to get through the dark times.

#2. Get rid of evil heart of unbelief. Traditions of men can be an evil heart of unbelief.

I Want to be “Left Behind” by Ted Noel

The “Left Behind” series of books has taken the Christian world by storm. It has been a best seller for months, and even secular outlets have trouble keeping them in stock. Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins have somehow managed to strike a nerve with their message of end-times trouble and redemption.

The Premise:

40 “Then there shall be two men in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left.
41 “Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. Matt 24:40-42

LaHaye and Jenkins take this passage to indicate that at the secret rapture Christ will take his elect to heaven, and the wicked will be “Left Behind” to endure the “Great Tribulation.” Since no good student of scripture will allow such a passage to speak without context, let us consider what Jesus said just before those words.

35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away.
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Matt 24:35-36

The problem

It is clear that Jesus is speaking of the end of time. While Jesus’ emphasis is on the permanence of his words, he is pointing out the end of the world. That is, the day in question is the day when all life on earth ceases. After that day there will be no one “Left Behind” to endure anything!

37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. Matt 24:37

Jesus now directs his listeners to a well-known story. Then he brings out the details he wishes to emphasize.

38 “For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, they were marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of Man be. Matt 24:38-39

During the time of Noah, the world became so wicked that God decided to destroy it with a flood (Gen 6-7). Noah and his family were saved in the ark, while all the other people on the earth died. Jesus’ language is of particular interest to us here. The wicked were those who did not understand Noah’s message and were “taken away.” Jesus then closes his description be re-stressing that the time of his return would be “like the days of Noah.” With this strong emphasis, we may now understand just what Jesus is saying in his next statements.

40 “Then there shall be two men in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left.
41 “Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. Matt 24:40-42

The Wicked are Taken, not the Saints

Since the wicked were “taken” in Noah’s day, and Jesus has just emphasized that fact, when he says that “one will be taken, and one will be left,” we should expect that the one taken is the wicked one. This is the exact opposite of what LaHaye and Jenkins speak of. The very premise for the title of the series has it backwards! But just to be certain of our discovery, let us look at one more teaching of our Lord.

The Hebrew Idiom:

18 And John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they came and said to Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”
19 And Jesus said to them, “While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom do not fast, do they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

20 “But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day. Mark 2:18-20

Here Jesus points out the well-known fact that no one fasts at the wedding feast while the bridegroom is present. After all, fasting was part of mourning, and a wedding is a joyous occasion. Then he points out that if the bridegroom is “taken”, then the attendants will go into mourning. If he has merely gone away briefly, there would be no cause for mourning. But since the word “taken” is used here as a euphemism for “killed,” the taking of the bridegroom is cause for mourning. We may also note that here Jesus is giving a prophecy of his own death, since he is the bridegroom and was to be killed.

Is This the Only Problem LaHaye and Jenkins Have?

This leaves us with a problem. If LaHaye and Jenkins got the figure of speech backwards, is there any other part of the end-times picture they need for us to fill in? Let’s see what Jesus says. We only need to back up a few more verses.

27 “For just as the lightning comes from the east, and flashes even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be. Matt 24:27

The True Hope of the Saints:

Immediately we see the picture. Whatever this return of Christ will be, it will be sudden, and will be visible everywhere at once. John repeats this in his Apocalypse.

7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, Rev 1:7a

Heavenly angels also tell the story at Jesus’ ascension.

9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was departing, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them;
11 and they also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11

But what is to happen at that coming?

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3

What Else Happens?

This visible coming is to be the time that the saints leave this earth and go to heaven with Christ. They will not be removed in secret, but at a visible event. This leaves us to consider the fate of the wicked. LaHaye and Jenkins would have us believe that after the church is removed in a secret rapture that an “antichrist” will arise who will make a peace treaty with the Jews, break that treaty, and begin a three and a half year “great tribulation.” We have already seen how the secret rapture is false. Let us consider the “antichrist.”

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
8 And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 2 Thess 2:7-8

The antichrist power was already present in Paul’s day! Unless there is someone on earth who is 2,000 years old, the antichrist is not a single person as LaHaye and Jenkins suggest. Further, when Jesus returns, that power will be destroyed. It will not be able to make treaties or oppress peoples since it will no longer exist. Of course, there will not be any people alive to tempt, either.

12 And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood;
13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.
14 And the sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;
16 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;
17 for the great day of their wrath has come; and who is able to stand? ” Rev 6:12-17

This is the sixth seal of Revelation. The events of verses 12-14 are described in a number of places as happening at the “great and dreadful day of the Lord” (Mal 4:5 KJV, cf. Matt 24:29-31).

29 “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken,
30 and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.
31 “And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. Matt 24:29-31

In other words, the sixth seal is describing our Lord’s return. In Matthew 24, Jesus tells us that that is the day Нe will “gather His elect.” We have already seen that the antichrist will be destroyed on that day, and now we see in Revelation that all the wicked will cry out to hide from “the wrath of the Lamb.” But they will not be able to hide. They will be “taken.” Of course, the saints will leave the earth.

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thess 4:13-17

What Happens Next?

Our first view must be of Satan. His people are dead, and the saints have been removed from his grasp to heaven. Revelation describes this.

1 And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
3 and threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he should not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Rev 20:1-3

The “abyss” is another word for “pit,” which is used interchangeably with sheol in the OT for the place of the dead. With everyone on the earth dead, the entire earth is now sheol. The “great chain” is a symbolic way of saying that Satan will not be able to leave the earth for the thousand years. And since all the dead are completely unaware (Eccl 9:5, 10), he is unable to tempt them.

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years. Rev 20:4-6

During this time, the righteous will be reigning with God in heaven. The details of this activity is beyond the scope of this essay, but we should pay close attention to one point. “This is the first resurrection.”

7 And when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison,
8 and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore.
9 And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Rev 20:7-10

After the millennium, Satan will be again able to tempt and deceive the wicked. (“The nations” is a common way of describing wicked peoples.) But he will be thrown into the lake of fire. The wicked have one more part in the drama. In order for Satan to be able to tempt them, they have to be resurrected. This will be the “second resurrection”

11 And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.
12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
14 And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Rev 20:11-15

judgment seat of God. The righteous do not need to be judged, since that was completed before the second coming, in the investigative judgment. In that process, Christ presented to the Father all who claimed his blood to cover their sins. The truly repentant and converted saints are declared righteous. These are those who are written in the book of life and were in the first resurrection. Now it is time for the unrepentant to be judged by their wicked deeds which are recoded in the books. Once this is complete, the wicked are destroyed in the lake of fire.

This second judgment shows the on looking universe that God is truly righteous, because we hear these praises recorded.

1 After these things I heard, as it were, a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God;
2 because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her. ”
3 And a second time they said, “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.”
4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” Rev 19:1-4

The universe passes judgment on God, and the verdict is his righteousness (cf. Rom 3:4).

But Why Should We be Concerned?

The plan for future events proposed by LaHaye and Jenkins tells us of a second chance after the “secret rapture.” Such an event would have very obvious consequences for the earth, with airplanes and cars crashing everywhere pilotless and driverless. Such an alarm could not be missed. It would then set wavering people moving on a path toward security, hoping to avoid the lake of fire.

But the Bible insists that no such second chance will be presented. Jesus will come suddenly, without warning, just like a thief in the night (1 Thess 5:2, 2 Pet 3:10). At that time, all the saints will go with God, and the wicked will be killed. Following the millennium, the resurrection, final judgment, and destruction of the wicked complete the drama of sin.

LaHaye and Jenkins write entertaining fiction, as the sales of their books show. But we should never lose sight of the fact that it is fiction. Not only are the characters fictional, so is their entire dramatic outline. They would like us to believe that their books are a means of drawing sinners to Christ by pointing out the final wages of sin. But I suggest that they are actually drawing people away from the need to repent now by offering them a back-door second chance.

The secret rapture and great tribulation myths allow sinners to carry on without fear, since, if no rapture has occurred, there will be at least seven more years in which to convert if needed. And if the rapture doesn’t occur, then God is really a myth anyway. The day of the Lord will take these people in their seeming safety.

2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.
3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 1 Thess 5:2-3

We cannot allow the world to settle into a sense of false security unwarned. It is our duty to expose this deadly error which has crept into Christianity and will kill many. We all must be ready at all times.

LaHaye and Jenkins may wish to be taken, but I, for one, want to be Left Behind.
