Anointing of the Holy Ghost

Go to Ephesians, chapter 1, and I’ll read a couple of Scriptures.

One of the things that has been going through my mind for the last couple of days… It has been a lot said about brokenness and this kind of thing. The bottom line is, if we do not do it God’s way, we are going to burn. We do not have any other option. Whether we like it or not, it is not my fault, it is the way it is done. I will read verses 13 & 14. You may not make a lot of sense out of it.

Pastor Jake Riehl

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance… (Eph 1:13-14)

You are not getting it, are you? Those words that I just read there, simply mean God’s down payment on your life through the Holy Ghost to get you moving in the things of God. I don’t know. One of the things I’ve been pondering: the value of the anointing, the value of being filled with the Holy Ghost, value of me as a person being in a place where that anointing can pour into me on a daily-daily-daily {bases} is the only way at the end of my day what I’ve done in this life is not going to burn. And everything I’ve ever done for God I owe to the anointing of Christ. And everything that I will ever become and I’m going to become I owe to the anointing. There is no other way.

And there are time that each of us here gets sidetracked a little bit. And at those times when we look at life and say, “You know what? I’m going back to Bethel. I am going back to the Father. I’m going to humble myself and do what it takes to get where I need to get to”.

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Eph 1:13-14 KJV)

It is God’s down payment on your life to get you where you need to get to. It’s the Holy Ghost.

“Cowards never won heaven. Do not claim that you are begotten of God and have His royal blood running in your veins unless you can prove your lineage by this heroic spirit: to dare to be holy in spite of men and devils.”1

It is a humiliating fact when we realize, “I can’t do it on my own. I need the anointing of God Almighty.” A lot of things get said about it. I want to touch on it a little bit.

Duncan Campbell said this, “Preaching truth without anointing of the Holy Ghost is to help  devils to damn souls.” It’s that anointing that every soul that I ever got saved is what I owe it to. That anointing only will come on you through brokenness and spending time with Jesus.

If that teaching that we got this week makes our brain a little bigger, we’ve totally missed it. If that faith that we are being taught, that mind change and repentance that we are being taught, going back to the Anabaptists, and we can think we can do it on our own, we are going to fall flat on our face. These things that are being spoken to get us to a place called closet where we cry out to the Almighty God for that anointing, for that power, for that endowment, that wisdom, that utterance, that cry!

I remember one day I’ve changed my mind. I don’t have time to tell you where I was, but Jake was a critical {person}. There are few other words that I probably have to add to that, and one time the Holy Ghost stopped me in a very unusual place. And I told God, “I will never ever be critical again.” That was 4 years ago. I decided it is not an option for me to go back.

Every one of us is in need of the anointing of the Holy Ghost. It is not that difficult. Some of you may think, “I need to pray more, I need to fast more.” I’ll talk about something else in a minute.

“There is nothing on earth today so deadening as preaching without the Heaven’s anointing. Refrain from preaching unless you know that the dew of Heaven is on your life.”2, on your soul.

Don’t try to win a soul by going in the streets, you find them in your prayer closet. That is true.

Charles Finney said this, “Are not the Church in their present state, a standing, public, perpetual denial of the gospel? Do they not stand out before the world, as a living, unanswerable contradiction?”

This probably is the most of the church. My question is, “Is it in our lives?” I tell my people at home, “If you do not get a hold of God, you will burn.” Amen?

It’s taking that time to seek God. It’s taking that time to allow that yearning… Listen the anointing is where God does things. Sometimes you feel it, sometimes you don’t.

I look at my life, at some things in my personal life, and this is where I judge myself.

If I do not see people’s life get changed it is because I do not care about them. That is my standard. I am not saying it is your standard. That is my standard. The reason I say that it is because it is my responsibility to affect the lost.

Bible says, “whatsoever” it is loose ended, “you ask in prayer believing it shall be done”. James gives a condition. You ask because you have lust in your life. This is loose ended. When we get our heart right, things will change.

Something in closing quickly. Everybody thinks, “I need to pray more, I need to fast more” and all these things. It is a very good tool. You go to Psalm 133. Hear me very closely. It talks about the unity of the spirit. Then it talks about the anointing coming down on the Aaron’s beard and running down over his body. It took me years to figure this out. My positioning stank. I was wondering where the anointing of Heaven is. You may be out of position. Are you with me? Does it make any sense? I want you to think about that.

((1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. Psalm 133:1-3 KJV))

You can’t be good enough to get filled with the Holy Ghost. I can’t be good enough to get touched again. But it has to come out of the heart, “God, I need You!” Amen?

God bless you! And Amen.
