Understanding the Mind
Part 3. How to Retain The mind is really keeps us going. We start about restoration of the mind and learning to retain. We might retain negative things and forget the positive.
Why do we have to have restoration or renewing of the mind? “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Rom 12:2 KJV)
How do we get our minds working in love, joy and peace? Natural love is different, than the love of God. The love of God is enduring, steadfast, it cannot fail.
True love, joy and peace starts in the thinking capacity. Everything that enters your heart goes through the mind. “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1Pe 1:13 KJV).
You have total control of your mind. No matter what is going on in your mind you have to approve it. That is why Bible says, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2Co 10:5 KJV). You take these thoughts into captivity.
How do you take charge of your mind? Love has to stay in the mind. It starts on the mind and it has to stay there. You need to understand that you are obligated to have love. But how to maintain this love? I can have a heart full of love today, but it goes away tomorrow. Wisdom may tell you, “you have too many things cluttering your mind.” The greatest hindrance to love is lust, opposite of love.
You cannot really love your enemies unless God helps you. And He can help you when you get tired of not having the love of God. Now, it took you 13 years to get to the shape you are in, and you want the answer tomorrow. What can speed up your love is how fast you give up things you are hindered by.
Fantasy in an insurance policy.
You pray, “Lord, something is crowding your love. Show me what it is/” He says, the love of money is your block. And you say, “I don’t love money”. That mind will start reasoning. Are you saying the Lord does not know what He was talking about? See, wisdom can’t work with you. Let’s change this. You say, “I was not aware that I loved money. But if You give me wisdom to understand how to get rid of it…” I decide that money won’t be my god, because I decided to love God. Nothing will get in between.Sermon. Duration 55 minutes.

Part 2. Changing Your Thinking
You have to take authority over your mind. “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind” (1 Pet 1:13 KJV) If your thinking is not correct you need to change it. One of the hardest things on your mind is disobedience. It creates a stronghold. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds” (2 Cor 10:4 KJV) Stronghold is not easy to get rid of. It takes some time.
A lot of our problems are because we entertain or retain thought that we did not have to retain. How to change our thinking? That is what we are talking about today.

Mind is like a computer. Sometimes you wonder why mind wanders, has a tendency to retain what to be remitted and remit what to be retained, why we have mental blocks. What is causing all that?
