Divorce and Remarriage
I am trying to confirm to you what the Word of God says in this issue. The issue of divorce and remarriage is a very large issue in the church today. God spoke to me and told me to marry this precious lady. I’ve been obedient to Him. I heard God’s voice about 30 times in my life. When He spoke to me that morning, “She is going to be your wife”, I had no problem with that. My problem was, “Does she know that?” I invited her to a cup of tea with me. I asked her if she heard from God. She said she had seen a dream the night before about marrying me. So I asked a woman whose hand I never held, never kissed her, and never had a date with her to be my help meet for life. She graciously agreed. There has been a complication. She was divorced and had 2 children. People started telling me, “You can’t marry her, she is a divorcee, her husband is still alive.” I didn’t want to sin against God.
I experienced conflicts with popular opinions before. When I taught from the Bible what it teaches about healing, many people said that I was crazy. I was teaching such a controversial issue. So in case of healing I went to the Word of God to find out what it teaches about health and healing, and I’ve been without sickness for over 20 years.
If Jesus’ answer in Matthew 5 “whosoever shall put away his wife… causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery”. (Matthew 5:31-32). If it is one line of understanding without going into a greater depth, then those people in church who were divorced and married again, and their mates are still living, are guilty of adultery. In Galatians 51 it says, that adulterers won’t inherit the Kingdom of heaven. If we take those scriptures for face value, none of those people in church can inherit the kingdom of heaven. That’s devastating.
Today I’m going to prove to you beyond the shadow of a doubt that that is not true.
